Today, the festive inauguration of Lasnamäe Tervisemaja took place; the center combines a full range of medical services, sports facilities and retail services, and greatly expands the availability of medical care in Tallinn and its surrounding municipalities.
Lasnamäe Tervisemaja, built at Linnamäe tee 3, is the first building with public functions in Estonia which was 100% financed by private capital.
Tervisemaja investor Timofey Sukonkin says that the strong interest of lessees and future customers shows that it is an important venture, which has been long awaited in East Tallinn.
“We realized the importance of the Lasnamäe Tervisemaja for the region already in the early stages of the project, because there was equally high interest from the doctors to offer a high-quality service in high-quality conditions, as well as from the people to get high-quality medical care comfortably and in one place,” said Sukonkin.
Tervisemaja developer Capital Mill’s Chief Executive Igor Mölder added that Tervisemaja brings clearly a new quality of life to Lasnamäe as well as to the adjacent city districts and municipalities.
“There has been clearly a shortage of the type of possibilities offered by Tervisemaja and I am delighted that in good cooperation with the city, we have been able to carry out such a project,” said Mölder.
Tervisemaja consists of two conjoined buildings. The five-storey wing of the Tervisemaja building will house providers of medical services, including family physicians and medical specialists, as well as rehabilitation facilities combined with a pool, outpatient surgery and examination facilities. The two-storey building next to it will accommodate a fitness centre, a pharmacy, a shop and other services. Family physicians and dentists, as well as shops offer their services already. Specialised doctors will begin providing their services in the near future, and the fitness club will open its doors in August.
Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Eha Võrk said that the successful launch of the Lasnamäe Tervisemaja project encouraged the city to find a developer in a similar way for other projects too. “Health-promoting facilities are being built in cooperation of the city and the private sector on two other properties – Akadeemia tee 30 in Mustamäe and Õismäe tee 130 in Haabersti,” said Võrk. “A sports and leisure centre with a public swimming pool and public sauna is being built in Mustamäe, and a centre for ball games is being built in Haabersti.”
AS YIT Ehitus Construction Department Director Andres Jakobi noted that the design and construction work of Lasnamäe Tervisemaja and the surrounding area was a considerable challenge, in particular in temporal aspects.
“We knew already when starting with the project that the construction schedule would be very tight, but thanks to the good cooperation and mutual trust with the client, we were able to successfully cope with the demanding deadline,” said Jakobi.
Lasnamäe Tervisemaja is located in Lasnamäe, verging on the Kose and Maarjamäe city districts. Residents of Lasnamäe can conveniently reach it both on foot and by public transport. The proximity of a bus stop allows for fast and comfortable access for people living in other districts of Tallinn as well. The strategic location at the intersection of the Mustakivi tee and Narva maantee roads makes the center easy to access for the inhabitants of Pirita and Viimsi but also for dwellers of settlements near Tallinn.
Lasnamäe Tervisemaja has 4,400 m2 across five storeys for medical services and around as much in the other building for retail trade, sports facilities and other services. Konsum occupies 2,000 square meters; fitness club MyFitness, a beauty salon, a cafe, a flower shop, and a Benu pharmacy occupy another 2,000 square meters. There is room for 190 cars in the parking lot.
In the medical services’ building, a medical treatment pool, two rehabilitation treatment offices, ultrasound, X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilities will be established. It is estimated that family physicians will have 60,000 and medical specialists 56,000 visits of patients a year in Tervisemaja.
Tervisemaja will house for example the Kose-Lasnamäe Family Health Center and Tallinn Municipal Family Health Center. Medical specialists such as endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, a nose, ear and throat specialist, pulmonologists, orthopedists, urologists, gynecologists, and others will work there. In addition, neurology, pediatrics and general surgery services will be available.
